Carole's Crafty Christmases - Quilted and not quilted

Christmas Crafting

It seems that almost every year, I end up doing some sort of Christmas quilting, knitting, crocheting, or crafting.  Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.com suggested setting up a blog showing some of the Christmas items we have made, so here is mine!

My first quilt for Christmas was an Eleanor Burns "Quilt in a Day" quilt designed by Wendy Gilbert, called "Christmas Traditions." The stuffed Santa couple was made from a pre-printed panel, and the reindeer from a pattern.

After years of use every December, it began to be shabby.  It didn't have enough quilting, and had only a single fold binding instead of a double one.  Now it decorates my covered porch each December, and I made a new "Christmas Traditions" in deeper reds and greens.  It is used on my bed each December.  The new one has a double fold binding, and is much more heavily quilted.

This Christmas I made new stockings for family members who had established residences of their own.  The cowboy boot stocking ended up winning the first-place prize in Nancy Zieman's Christmas Stocking challenge.

A few Christmas ago I crocheted "snake" draft stoppers as a Christmas gift for my daughter
who had moved into a drafty old house.

Several years ago I made a table topper and a table runner from Carol Doak paper piecing designs.

I've made Christmas pillows with Carol Doak paper-piecing designs as well.

Many years ago I began sewing Christmas ornaments.  Some are quilted, some are stuffed, some are flat.  This photo shows only a few of them.  Many more hang on my tree.
